Individual therapy for adults & teens 16+ · Whitsett, NC

A space that's just for you.

Not home, not work — a third space, where you can set everything else down and be fully yourself. Therapy in Whitsett, North Carolina and online across the state.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You look fine on the outside, but inside you feel anxious, stuck, or worn down.
  • You hold yourself to impossible standards and still feel like it's never enough.
  • You take care of everyone else and quietly disappear from your own life.
  • Old experiences keep showing up in new relationships — and you're tired of the pattern.
  • You've tried to think your way out of it, and it hasn't worked.

These patterns usually made sense at some point in your life. Therapy is where we understand them together — and where they finally get to change.

Meet your therapist

Emily Buckley, MS, LCMHCA, NCC

I specialize in helping adults and older teens heal from anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and the lasting effects of painful experiences — including childhood emotional neglect, trauma, and attachment wounds that keep showing up as perfectionism, people-pleasing, and feeling never quite good enough.

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the present moment. I work to create a space where you can be authentic, open, and honest — often for the first time — so that you can build greater confidence, balance, and emotional well-being.

How I can help

Specialties

Anxiety & Depression

When worry, low mood, or self-criticism run the show, we work to understand what's underneath — not just manage symptoms.

Trauma & PTSD

Using EMDR and experiential approaches to help you find real relief from traumatic experiences and painful memories.

Childhood Emotional Neglect

Healing the quiet wounds of growing up without the emotional support you needed — and learning to give it to yourself.

Perfectionism & People-Pleasing

Loosening the grip of impossible standards and the exhausting need to keep everyone else happy.

Self-Esteem & Self-Doubt

Building a steadier, kinder relationship with yourself so your inner critic stops making the decisions.

Relationships & Attachment

Understanding the patterns you learned early in life so your closest relationships can feel safer and more connected.

How therapy works here

My Approach

I draw on relational, psychodynamic, and experiential methods — therapy that goes deeper than symptom management, at a pace that respects where you are.

Psychodynamic & Relational

We pay attention to patterns — in your life, your relationships, and even in the therapy room — because the patterns that hurt you are also the ones that can heal.

Experiential Dynamic Therapy

Rather than only talking about feelings, we make room to actually experience them safely — which is where lasting change happens.

EMDR

A well-researched approach that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they lose their charge and stop intruding on the present.

Person-Centered

You are the expert on your own life. My job is to be genuinely present, curious, and on your side — never judging, never rushing.
